In 1966 Dr. William ‘Butch’ Mulherlin started Athens Orthopedic Clinic. This clinic was started in a small building on south Lumpkin street with two exam rooms and one nurse. In 1972 the office moved to King Avenue. Their Kind Avenue Building was renovated two times. In 1982 a two-story building was built next to the original one-story building. After a few years, the second floor was built on the main building, bringing the size to 16,000 square feet.
