Dr. John Brougher a gynecologist and Dr. Frank Boerma a family practitioner start Vancouver Clinic providing medical care to the local community from the Downtown Vancouver office in 1936. In 1937 they joined a surgeon and a pediatrician in 1939 to expand their practice. The team has chosen Vancouver medical and Surgical center as the name for their practice. In 1941 they shortened the name Vancouver Clinic.
Due to the rapid growth, both the number of Vancouver clinic patients and providers increased steadily. The clinic overhauled its original office suite, as well as its own building in 1956. In 1978 everyday between 25 to 40 new patients joining the clinic.
Nowadays Vancouver clinic is the largest private multi-specialty clinic in Clark County. They have 1200 employees including 300 providers. They are also one of the largest employers in the region and powerhouse of the local economy.
Vancouver Clinic continues to create and add services across the county to serve a rapidly growing population and to be the leading private source of healthcare services in the region.
